Faahac Rhodesian Ridgebacks

News 2008

News 2008

Enyaa went Best Puppy in Breed at LKA the last big show before Christmas. There were 43 puppies entered and a total of 145 Ridgebacks. The judge was Janet Nolan.

We went to Scotland to the Scottish Club Ch Show on Saturday where both Ambaa and Enyaa were both 2nd in their classes. The judge was John Sig Berg from Norway.

We then went to a local show on Sunday, Border Counties Hound, where Ridgebacks had classes judges by Bob Hernandez. Enyaa was entered along with only 3 other Ridgebacks, she was BOB, BP and then went on to win BP in Show under Bob Gregory!

On 8/11 Justus was best male, BOB and Group-1 at an open show in Svenljunga, Sweden, and on 16/11 he was best male and best opposite sex at another open show this time in Gothenburg. Well done to Helena and Justus!

We went to Midland Counties CH show and Ambaa was placed 3rd in her class and Enyaa was placed 4th. I also had Ambaa entered in Champion stakes (all hounds) under Judge Elina Tan from Finland which she won from a class of 38!

This was Ambaa's critique when she won Champion Stakes: A wonderful bitch, international quality, she has everything I wish from this breed, beautiful head, sound, good ridge, wonderful colour and she is a great mover. Judge Elina Tann.

We went to the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of GB on Sunday to their Ch Show. The day started off well with Baxter and Dylan entered in Minor Puppy Dog class. We were all very pleased when Baxter was placed 3rd (and qualifies for Crufts) and Dylan was 4th. Well done to them both!

Later on it was Enyaa's turn. There were 12 Minor Puppy Bitches entered and she won her class! She also went on to be Best Puppy Bitch by beating the older puppy bitches, and at the end of the show they declare a Best Puppy in Show which went to Enyaa!

Some news from the weekend: Enyaa went to her first show at 6 months and 1 day old at Darlington Ch show. She won Minor Puppy Bitch and then went on to get Best Puppy in Breed! There were 87 Ridgebacks entered including 14 puppies, I am so pleased with her. This qualifies her for Crufts 2009 at her very first show!

We went to Birmingham Ch show on Friday where Ambaa got BOB and her 6th CC under judge Mrs K Maidment!

Fumbaa got his first CC at East of England Ch show where breed specialist Dorothy Grayson Wood was judging. The RCC went to Barak, Helen Mansfield's dog out of Darrie (Faahac Fushana for Shingwidsi). Congratulations to Georgina and Fumbaa and also to Helen and Barak!

Ambaa's dam Roza (SUCh NUCh Hayawani Zerafina Moyo) won BIS Veteran at the RR World Specialty show in Stockholm, Sweden, handled by Justus' mum Helena.

We went to Border Union CH Show in Kelso Scotland with Georgina and Fumbaa, it was a good day for Ambaa who won the bitch CC. This was her 5th CC and it's only 13 weeks after having her puppies! She is an amazing show girl and I am so proud of her.

Fumbaa also had a good day and won his class. The judge was Mrs Jean Malley.

Ambaa went to her first show after the puppies, they were 12 weeks old last weekend. She was awarded 2nd in Open bitch at the GB Club Open show. She also came away with some trophies:

  • The Owlsmoor Trophy for outstanding dog/bitch of the year
  • Suntracker Sovereign trophy for Best liver nose of the year
  • The Hacker Cup for the most consistant winner of the year
  • The Mirengo's Malangundi Cup for best liver nose placed at the show

The puppies have moved and are settling into their new homes. New photos and individual puppy pages in "Previous litters".

The puppies, almost 4 weeks.

Ambaa's puppies at 2 weeks. Individual photos are here.

We had a dogless day at Crufts on Sunday 9th, setting up and taking care of the breed stand which ended up being awarded Best Breed Stand for the Hound Group!

I am delighted to announce that Ambaa
had her puppies on Tuesday 11th March!

7 boys and 5 girls in a very even litter. All are well and have good ridges and very little white and Ambaa is a wonderful mother. More photos and news will follow.

Ambaa at 7 weeks!

At the weekend the Midlands and Northern Rhodesian Ridgeback Club presented the Annual points trophies to members. I am delighted to say that Ambaa has been awarded the following trophies:

My Ambaa

I am very proud of Ambaa's achievements in the last 12 months. She is an absolute delight to live with, and her and Fiyaa are the very best of friends and are inseparable. Ambaa loves the show ring, it is where people take notice of her and that is her aim in life! She has surpassed all my expectations and finished 2007 with 4 CCs, 7 RCCs, her Show Certificate of Merit, Group 3 at Welsh KC, 6 Best in Show (3 at club shows), 4 Res Best in Show, and to top it all she was Best of Breed and last 8 in the group at the Winners show in Amsterdam.

She is a very special girl and my pride and joy. Below are some photos of Ambaa with the trophies she won in 2007.

Ambaa and Fiyaa!

Lena's hip score has come back from the vet as 4.3 which I, John and Dorothy are delighted with!

Happy New Year!

We have just had the photo from RR Club of Scotland's CH show in November where Ambaa got her 4th CC and was Res Best in Show under Judge Denis Macmillan.
