My involvement in Rhodesian Ridgebacks started back in 1982 with the acquisition of a very sweet puppy bitch. She had no name as it was a bit of an impulse to have a puppy, she was named after a dolphin who was taught to talk as she did this regularly and so she was called "Faah" (Faahzimba Mowa of Faahac), and this became the basis of my affix. She came to work with me and was the center of attention, I was hooked!! She needed a playmate so along came Aston (Kinza Aston). He had the sweetest of natures and was like a teddy bear. Faah had a litter to Kinza Hoshim and produced 10 puppies, Elsa (Elsa Nikitafaah) was the last to go so she stayed for the next 15 years.

By this time I had acquired another male Nero (Nero Maghayo of Faahac). He was the clown of the pack and somehow I was persuaded to show him. He did well for a newcomer gaining 2 CC's, and he was also a PAT Dog which he loved. Hooked again so let's have another puppy - Faah was mated this time to CH Settstones Otavi owned by Ian Firth. From this litter I kept a puppy to show, Freya (CH Faahac Freya). She gained her title a month before her son Fyn (CH Faahac Fyn JW) by CH Kumasia of Cullinan, and she also became a PAT Dog which she enjoyed much more than showing. Freya also produced another Champion for me in Feri (CH Faahac Feri) by CH Iannto of Janak.

By this time I had lost my beloved Faah and Aston, and Nero was getting quite old so maybe Feri should have a litter. She was mated on numerous occasions but it was not to be. I wanted another puppy to show so along came Saafi (CH Saragwe Saafiki of Faahac) in 1996 (by CH Mwenga Hentiesbaai ex Mwenga Melody of Saragwe). She was a very pretty puppy with the biggest of dark eyes, I had high hopes for her but oh what a scrawny girl! She wouldn’t eat and had the most awful puppy coat but such a wonderful character. Things started to come together at about 12-14 months old when she started to do well in the ring. She gained her 1st CC & BOB at 19 months old (thank you Ann Gates) and her total was 9 CC's, 5 BOB and 4 RCC's (one at Crufts 2000).

In the meantime in bounced Rei (Azuli Aarei at Faahac by CH Faahac Fyn JW ex Trendsetter Tamania of Azuli). He was only shown lightly, gaining his stud book number at Scottish Hound 2000. In 1997 Feri was persuaded to let Merlin (CH Mwenga Maasengai) have his wicked way, and to our surprise she produced 11 puppies - she wasn’t the baby anymore. From that litter I kept Fern (Faahac Fern) and Toni (Agnew) had Fae (Faahac's Faith in Mwenga JW). Which takes me to 2000, when Saafi produced a litter to Shemesh (CH Vizara Shemesh of Shabani imp) of 7 beautiful puppies. Darrie (Faahac Fushana for Shingwidsi), Fizz (Faahac Fizaana) and Jaala (Faahac Fjaala) can be seen in the ring. A litter from Fern born 15 March by Nyassa Metz of Godophins takes me to 5 generations on from the start of that first puppy called " Faah".

Tragically I lost my beloved Saafi in August 2002 at the age of 5. She was my soulmate and I miss her more than words can say. She lives on in her progeny.

Fern was mated again, this time to Jaala and produced 13 puppies of which I kept Fiyaa (Faahac'S Fiyaa JW). She has done well in the show ring gaining 1 CC with BOB, 1 Res CC, Best puppy in Show (M & N Club show) and a Best in show (Border Counties Hound).

For a long time I had admired the Hayawani Ridgebacks in Sweden so decided it was now time to bring in some new blood lines although closely connected to Saafi (her sister lives there). I went to see a litter from Roza (NU & SU CH Hayawani Zerafina Moyo) and Nambala Qam of Savannah Winds (an import from New Zealand to Holland). From this combination there were 8 puppies, 3 of which were liver nosed, and I decided to have a lovely liver bitch. Her name was to be Ambaa. As she couldn’t come to me until she was 10 months old (pet passport rules) she went to live in Holland with her sire and Mary who has become a very close friend. This made it much easier for me to go and see her. We went over many times to see her and for Fiyaa to get to know her, and we also combined our visits with some shows where Fiyaa has gained 2 x CACIB’s and a res CACIB at the Winners last year (this is the Dutch equivalent to Crufts). Ambaa was shown a few times as a puppy and was always graded as excellent. She was also Junior winner last year in Amsterdam.

The time came for Ambaa to come home to the UK and since has been very successful in the show ring, so far gaining 1 CC and 3 RCC’s (one as a puppy). She was BEST IN SHOW at the Scottish RR Club show, Border Counties Hound Show, and Midlands and Northern RR Club open show. Ambaa has also had many BOB and group wins at CH shows, and she has been awarded a Show Certificate of Merit. It was on one of our trips to Holland that I met with Katja and Dodge (INT CH N’Gai Zamu Ginba’s Hero), a very handsome Ridgeback with a superb temperament who has now been mated to Fiyaa. Her puppies were born on the 8th August 2006.
